Sir Jonathan North College

Welcome from the Principal

Welcome to the Sir Jonathan North College website. Whether you are using this site as a student, parent, governor, member of staff or member of the general public, we hope you will find it a useful source of information. If you have a query to which you cannot find the answer, please contact us and we will do our best to answer it.

Sir Jonathan North is unique as the only girls’ multi faith state school in Leicester and Leicestershire, educating students aged 11-16 from across the city and beyond. With a reputation for innovation and success, Sir Jonathan North is an inclusive, friendly and diverse community. In 2013, the College benefited from a £9 million partial re-build as part of the national Building Schools for the Future programme and now has high quality purpose built facilities for each curriculum area.

At Sir Jonathan North, we believe that learning should be both enjoyable and rewarding. Our curriculum is rich, broad and balanced. This enables every student to develop her own voice, her abilities and talents. The enthusiasm and commitment are evident whether they are learning a new language or discovering how to extract DNA from a banana. We also provide students with a wide range of different experiences outside the classroom from sport, dance and drama to preparing to take part in a Mission to Mars!

Our College mission statement is `We are a Learning Community which values each individual and aims for excellence in everything we do’. Our students leave Sir Jonathan North as confident young women, equipped with both excellent academic qualifications, a well-developed sense of who they are and the personal and social skills enabling them to be a happy and successful member of society.

The website cannot, of course, replace personal contact and we will be happy to welcome you to the College should you wish to visit and see us at work.
