National Leaders of Education
Alison is a National Leader of Education and has been the Principal of Sir Jonathan North Community College, Leicester, since 2007. Under her leadership, the college was graded as outstanding by Ofsted in October 2013 and became a National Support School in 2016. It has been recently designated as a Teaching School. Further accreditations include: Inclusion Quality Mark Flagship School (2014), Young Enterprise Centre of Excellence (2013) and the World Class Schools Quality Mark (2016). The college recently featured as an exemplar of best practice in the 2017 Parliamentary Review.
As an experienced headteacher, Alison shares her expertise in the following ways: she undertakes targeted school improvement support; is a trained Pupil Premium Reviewer and a Challenge Partners Reviewer. Alison is Vice Chair of Governors at a primary school and an IEB member of a school in special measures. She has particular experience of whole school literacy, inclusion; safeguarding and student well-being, teaching and learning, leadership and management, staffing and personnel and estates. Alison is a trained facilitator for the NPQSL and is confident about the impact that coaching can have in driving school improvement. She is also a trained Independent Review Panel member.
Alison has recently been awarded as an ambassador for Women in Education for East Midlands, South Yorkshire and Humber.
