Year 8 Netball Competition

On Tuesday 26 September two Year 8 netball teams competed in a netball tournament. Find out how they got on.

We started by playing our first match against New College and won 9 - 4 and went on to play a great game against Rushey Mead which we also won 5 - 2. We played a very hard match against English Martyrs and unfortunately lost 8 - 1. However we didn’t let this affect us and continued to play well and won our last 2 games against Soar Valley (4 - 2 ) and Leicester High (3 - 1). Every team played very well and it was a great tournament!

The team were: Carys  8.1, Emma R 8.8, Alex 8.1, Emma B 8.4, Mira 8.4, Rachel 8.4, Elizebeth 8.1, Faith 8.1 and Jayna 8.1 who was nominated the Girl of the Day.

The Blue team from Sir Jonathan North played, and won, 3 games.  The team were: Nadia, Grace, Maz, Gabrielle, Erin, Beth, Eve and Zarina.
In the first match we played New College and won 5 - 1. It was a great match and everyone made some impressive passes and interceptions.
The second game was more tense and it was harder to score, yet we still managed to win 6 - 1 against Tudor Grange Samworth!  Eve scored multiple times, giving everyone a confidence boost.
The third and final game took longer to get started.  We played Crown Hills and the first half was very scrappy, however the second half was like watching a different team play!  Everyone was creating space and we won 6 - 1.
Overall it was a very good tournament. A massive congratulations to Erin as well for winning star player!
