In Expressive Arts we aim to foster a love of the arts by offering a broad and balanced experience across art, dance, drama and music. We want to enthuse passion, creativity and a love for our subjects that students may not have previously experienced. Students are offered weekly extra-curricular activities in a range of areas such as guitar, orchestra, choir, musical theatre, drama club, dance workshops and art club. These activities then form our annual performance events such as our music concerts and Summer Arts Festival. We also collaborate across the art forms to produce major productions such a 'High School Musical' and ‘Legally Blonde’. To give students a professional theatre experience we have performed our productions at externally hired venues. Sir Jonathan North has established a reputation for its high quality of visual and performance art. Visitors and parents often comment on the wonderful art work that adorns the walls of every corridor. We have a well-established team of music peripatetic teachers delivering lessons on piano, guitar, drum kit, violin, flute, singing, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet and euphonium. Dance and Drama also host various externally delivered workshops and run an annual trip to see a professional theatre performance. Student participation and enjoyment is high.
