Step Up is a National Open College Network (NOCN) accredited course. It is an innovative range of credit-based qualifications developed to incorporate a wide variety of activities. Units can be used to individualise a learning programme tailored to a student's needs.
Students can work towards achieving a Level 1 Award (6 credits), Certificate (21 credits) or a Diploma (39 credits). There are a few mandatory units but predominantly the student can choose the topics that they would like to study. The programme is portfolio based.

Healthy Lifestyles
Assertive Living
Understanding Young People Law and Order
Family Relationships
Job Seeking Skills
Understanding Child Development
Developing Skills in Garden Horticulture
What exams are there?
NOCN accredited course at level 1 which is GCSE equivalent. It is a module based course which is marked and moderated individually as each unit is completed. There is no exam.
Option Block
This course is offered to selected students as an alternative to one of their options.
Progression
This course equips students with practical skills useful in a wide range of employment. The qualifications are approved within the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) at Level 1 and encompass the principles of Foundation Learning.
