Creative and Media Diploma Overview

This is a new course. You will study for 420 hours over the two years. This course is for students who are very interested in the Arts and have passion and ability in Visual Arts and Performing Arts

Structure

You will study a combined course of Visual Arts and Performing Arts which includes Dance and Drama. You will be expected to present your Artwork and be involved in Performance.

Content

You will study seven units over the two years. The units are thematically titled as follows:

Unit 1 – Scene
Unit 2 – Performance
Unit 3 – Artefact
Unit 4 – Record
Unit 5 – Campaign
Unit 6 – Festival
Unit 7 – Project report

Each Unit will include a process portfolio and assessment.

Each student will be entered for Edexcel Project and students will be entered for Functional Skills English, Maths and ICT.

Additional Information

What exams are there?
Unit 7 is the exam element in this course which will take place in Year 11.
There are Teacher Assessments for each Unit throughout the course which will be externally moderated.

Option Block                            
This must be opted for in option blocks 1 and 2.

Career Information                  
The Diploma offers students the opportunity to enter into a broad  spectrum of careers in the Performing and Visual Arts. This course would be suitable for students wishing to study the Arts at
College.
Progression Information          
This is a brand new course which has been developed by the Creative Industries.

Pre-requisites                          
Students should be achieving at least Level 6 in the Arts subjects, and the same for the core subjects.

Enrichment                              
Students should expect to be involved in external performances and exhibitions, visits to theatres galleries, museums and other visits to other Creative employers
