NVQ Business French Overview
Some of our Year 9 students study NVQ Level 1 Business French. This gives them the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification. It is ideal for students who will not study languages in KS4. We also offer Level 2 as an alternative for students who would like a language qualification without doing a GCSE.
Structure
There are no exams. There are twelve assessments; three for each skill of reading, writing, speaking and listening throughout the year. These will take place in the lesson.
NVQ’s are very flexible. You can decide with your teacher for example that you only want to take the speaking assessments. This would give you an NVQ level one in speaking.
Content
NVQs have been developed by industry to meet the needs of the modern world. They are designed to recognise a student’s competence in the workplace. The course covers the following topic areas:
Introductions
Dealing with overseas visitors
Reservations and appointments
Travel arrangements
Socialising in a business context
Communications
Additional Information
Career Information
NVQ’s are recognised and valued by employers who need people with practical, language skills. You don’t have to be fluent. This course is ideal for students who are currently in sets 3, 4 or 5 in Year 9, who would like a language qualification.
